Late night host Stephen Colbert turned Donald Trump’s alleged comment about Haiti and African countries being “s**thole countries” right back on him during last night’s show.
During his opening monologue, Colbert riffed on his usual message by quoting something the president denies:
“How come we have all these people from s**thole countries come here?”
Colbert followed up with this:
“Sir, they’re not s**thole countries. For one, Donald Trump isn’t their president.”
Colbert gloried in the audience reaction:
But an obvious question immediately arose:

Michael Moore made his own point:
To paraphrase Stephen Colbert, those aren’t “shithole countries” because their president isn’t Donald Trump.

“Dylan” believes that America is a “s**thole”:
Africa is a #shithole.
– 20% of population lives in poverty
– 1 in 6 go hungry every night
– 60,000 drug deaths each year
– constantly at war
– run by corrupt politicians
Just kidding, that’s America.

This user believes America has been a “s**thole” for a very long time:
When I was growing up in Georgia, I knew people who did not have running water. Kids in Alabama have hookworms. Flint has poison water. Jared Kushner runs slums. Many places in America have terrible health care and education. We are the pot calling the kettle a #shithole.

Some labeled the president’s comment as “racist.”
I Googled the word #Shithole trying to find a new banner for my Twitter account and the first thing that popped up was a picture of the White House.

Colbert also tweeted about Trump’s alleged comments:
Today's Gospel according to Donald: "And Jesus said, whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, that you do unto me…unless they're from one of those shithole countries!" https://t.co/4BQMFsGBTP

Trump says he used “tough” talk in his meeting about immigration with Democrats, but he denies using the word “s**thole.”
